Abstract

This research presents a comprehensive analysis of chromosomal encodings across twenty-seven distinct species explicitly mentioned in the Qur’an. By systematically correlating scriptural references with established genomic data, the study uncovers a consistent pattern of chromosome alignment embedded within Qur’anic language. The findings suggest that divine taxonomy is not metaphorical alone but reflects discernible biological structures. Remarkably, all identified species exhibit recognizable chromosomal signatures with one notable exception: a fish referenced in verses 37:142 and 68:48. No known organism possesses both the anatomical capacity to swallow a human whole and sustain life internally for a limited amount of time, raising the possibility that this creature may represent an extinct lineage or an as‑yet undiscovered species. This anomaly highlights the Qur’an’s unique engagement with biological mysteries. Overall, the study bridges Qur’anic taxonomy with modern genetics, offering a novel framework for decoding divine biological patterns and contributing to the emerging interdisciplinary field of Qur’an–genome studies.

Keywords: Chromosomal encodings, haploid, diploid, composite indexing, Base-19 analysis.

Introduction

The Qur’an references a wide array of living organisms, often in symbolic, narrative, or legal contexts. While previous studies have explored the theological, ecological, or linguistic significance of these species, few have examined the possibility of embedded biological patterns within the Qur’anic text itself. This study investigates whether the chromosome numbers of 27 distinct Qur’anic species are encoded in the structure and numerical properties of the verses in which they appear.

The research shows that the divine language of the Qur’an carries layered biological information. Using a combination of letter counts, verse and chapter arithmetic, base conversions (Base-10 and Base-19), and composite number rankings, the study reveals consistent genomic correlations. For example, in Qur’an 12:41, the letter count from the beginning of the verse to the word “bird” is 55. The 55th composite number is 78 — matching the diploid chromosome count of many raptors. Additional transformations (e.g., 55 − 12 = 43 → Base-19 = 25 → 25th composite = 39) align with the haploid count of these birds.

The objective of this study is to establish a comparative framework for decoding chromosomal encodings in Qur’anic species, bridging scriptural taxonomy with modern genetics. It also seeks to highlight one exceptional case — a fish referenced in verses 37:142 and 68:48 — whose anatomical description and survival implications suggest it may be extinct or undiscovered, with its chromosomal encoding remaining elusive. This work contributes to the emerging field of Qur’an–genome studies and proposes a new lens for interdisciplinary inquiry.

Methodology

This study utilizes a comparative analytical framework to investigate chromosomal encodings embedded in Qur’anic references to 27 distinct species. The research design is observational and interpretive, relying on secondary data sources and symbolic-numerical analysis. Chromosome counts for each species were obtained from biological databases. Species identification was guided by the taxonomy listed in The Last Dialogue’s article on animals mentioned in the Qur’an.

The analytical method involves (Uthmani font it is the standardized script commissioned by Caliph ‘Uthman ibn ʿAffan (r. 644–656 CE) to preserve the Qur’an’s text. Muslims regard it as the purest and most authoritative version, because it unified the Qur’an’s written form and eliminated regional variations) calculating base letter counts from the beginning or end of relevant verses in which those species are mentioned, sometimes excluding or including the species name. These counts are then matched to known diploid or haploid chromosome numbers. In cases where direct matches are not evident, additional techniques are applied:

  • Arithmetic operations involving verse number or chapter number (e.g., letter count ± verse/chapter number and vice-versa)
  • Base conversions between Base-10 and Base-19.
  • Composite number ranking, where the letter count or transformed value corresponds to the nth composite number matching the species’ chromosome count.

The junction of the two seas is likely the Strait of Hormuz, Persian Gulf is warmer, shallower, more saline whereas Gulf of Oman is deeper, cooler, less saline which mirrors the Qur’anic description — Where the Persian Gulf meets the Gulf of Oman which is rich in intertidal zones, mangroves, and mudflats — especially along the UAE and Omani coasts. Conclusion

This study demonstrates that chromosomal counts of Qur’anic species are encoded within the numerical and structural properties of the verses in which they appear. Through layered transformations—including letter counts, arithmetic operations, base conversions, and composite number indexing—the analysis reveals consistent genomic correlations across twenty‑seven species. The remaining five species are documented in detail by Dr. Syed Shamsul Arephen (MBBS, MD–Radiology and Imaging, Consultant Radiologist and Medical Officer, Bangladesh Public Administration Training Centre) in Chromosome Numbers in the Holy Qur’an (archive.org, 2020). Collectively, these findings show that the Qur’anic text embeds biological information regarding the chromosomes of every single species ever mentioned, supporting the view that divine language operates simultaneously on symbolic and empirical levels.

The implications extend beyond religious taxonomy: the discovery of consistent chromosomal encodings invites further exploration into Qur’anic verse architecture as a potential repository of biological knowledge. One unresolved anomaly—the fish referenced in verses 37:142 and 68:48—remains unmatched in genomic databases. Its anatomical and survival features suggest extinction or undiscovery, reinforcing the possibility that the Qur’an contains predictive or concealed biological data. This study contributes to the emerging field of Qur’an–genome research and proposes a new lens for decoding scriptural organisms.
